Provides a set of tools that let you work on PCL data streams.
Printer Command Language or PCL, is a page description language (PDL) developed by Hewlett-Packard as a printer protocol. It became a de-facto industry standard and there has been several revisions as functionalities/capabilities are added to the description language. PCL has been released in varying levels for thermal, matrix printer, and page printers. HP-GL and PJL are supported by later versions of PCL. The tools in the software package being reviewed was built from the original PCLTool SDK codebase. PCLWorks is a fast and very accurate converter of PCL3 thru PCL6/XL. It includes PCL technologies such as Text Searchable PDFs, UTF8 Text Extraction, JBIG2 Compression & PDF/A format support. The developers keep doing developments of the tool set as PCL evolves. It keeps up with the latest printer drivers, advancements in PDF and other formats.
This tool has a very easy to use GUI, making it easy for all kinds of users to adapt to the tool very easily and quickly. This tool set includes tools like Img2PDF Program, Img2PCL Program, PCLCodes, PCLFilter, PCLOptimize, PCLSplit and TnxDump, etc. PCLWorks not only converts PCL, it allows end-users to view, edit, disassemble, debug, extract text and print PCL to any Windows printer. It is able to convert PCL to PDF/A, the archival format. The filter tool will let you define very sophisticated filtering functionality. PCLSplit lets you split a stream into multiple documents. The imag2PCL tool lets you create PDF documents from image streams coming out of a captive scanner.
